Easy Dashboard
Learn how to create an Easy Dashboard with Hubitat to allow easy local or remote monitoring and control of your devices
Easy Dashboard is a new easy-to-use and easy-to-create grid-based tile solution for viewing and controlling devices and other features on Hubitat Elevation. With Easy Dashboard, you can:
- easily view the status of any device, such as:
- the on/off state of a switch, outlet, dimmer, or bulb
- current temperature of a sensor
- locked or unlocked state of a door lock
- control devices on the dashboard by tapping on the tile (or selecting other options), including:
- turn a switch or outlet on or off
- set the color or color temperature of a smart bulb
- change the setpoint or mode of a thermostat
- lock or unlock a door lock
- View or change changing hub mode or Hubitat Safety Monitor status
What's the difference between Hubitat Dashboard and Easy Dashboard? Hubitat® Dashboard is a older Dashboard that is incredibly customizable (e.g., supports custom CSS) but that most users would say requires more work to set up. Easy Dashboard is our newest attempt to make it simple to create beautiful, easy-to-use dashboards. Which you choose is up to you, and there is no reason to switch from Hubitat Dashboard if you are already using it – it will continue to work. If you are not sure where to start, we suggest Easy Dashboard.
Access to any Easy Dashboard available locally or remotely via either local or remote/cloud URLs you can open in your favorite browser or the Hubitat Elevation mobile app.
Creating an Easy Dashboard
-
From the sidebar of your hub, select Dashboards.
-
In the top right, select + Add Dashboard.
-
If prompted, select Easy Dashboard. (Some users may have two options, Easy Dashboard and Hubitat Dashboard. If you do not see any options, an Easy Dashboard will be created by default.)
-
When prompted, provide name for this dashboard and select devices or other options to include on this dashboard.
-
Select Create Dashboard to finish (if you do not see this button, make sure you provided a name for the dashboard).
-
To view or edit this dashboard in the future, select it in the list of dashboards (under Dashboards).
Editing an Easy Dashboard
To edit devices authorized for a specific dashboard or to enable or disable editing while viewing or other specific options on a particular dashboard:
-
Navigate to Dashboards and find the desired dashboard in the list.
-
If you do not see the edit and delete icons next to the dashboard, select the gear icon in the top right toggle edit mode on.
-
Select the edit icon next to the dashboard to add or remove devices, enable or disable layout editing while viewing the dashboard, and other options.
Tips
- The first time you create an Easy Dashboard, you will be prompted to view a guide/tutorial. We suggest stepping through this to learn more about the features in Easy Dashboard.
- Want to disable the ability to edit dashboard layout while viewing the dashboard (and the ability to toggle the "lock" icon on/off to do so in the dashboard)? Turn off the Allow layout editing option in the dashboard options (under the edit icon for your particular Easy Dashboard in Dashboards).
- Don't see the edit and delete button next to your dashboards in the list in Dashboards? Select the gear icon in the top right to toggle edit mode on or off. These icons are visible only when edit mode is on (in order to prevent accidental changes or deletion).
